A postgraduate study that offers further legal education and expertise in particular areas of law is called a Master of Laws (LLM) program. The one- to two-year LLM program gives students the opportunity to expand their knowledge in a variety of areas, including corporate law, human rights law, international law, environmental law, intellectual property law and tax law. Students study, analyze and critically assess legal matters in-depth; their work frequently culminates in a thesis or dissertation. Opportunities for gaining real-world experience through externships, internships, or clinics may also be provided by LLM schools.
